Any step towards a sustainable future together is a step forward.
Green PE #
Polyethylene made from Bagasse, a byproduct of sugarcane production, has the same molecular structure as traditional PE and can be used at up to 100% of a mono-layer tube. Green PE removes up to 2.15 metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere for each ton produced.
Ocean Plastics #
FDA Oceanbound plastic can be hard to get in your tube, but if this goal fits in with your brand’s mission, COMPAX is happy to help find a solution. Oceanbound resin is post-consumer plastic at risk of polluting our oceans. The plastic is gathered, cleaned, and reprocessed similarly to PCR.
PCR (Post-consumer Recycled Material) #
Post-consumer recycled material allows you to reduce your carbon footprint by helping to close the plastics loop. Since PCR has less polymer strength than virgin material, there are recommended percentages for PCR for the diameter of your tube. PCR can be used in a single layer tube, or in one-layer in a multi-layer tube. Using PCR on the outer layer of your tube allows you to keep virgin material closest to your sensitive formula while still creating an impact on your carbon footprint.
True Mono-material (All PP) #
Injection molded tubes made from a single material — polypropylene– drastically reduce your brand’s carbon footprint. PP has increased barrier properties, and can reduce sampling footprint for compatibility testing. The entire tube is Code 5 recyclable. Plus, polypropylene has the lowest CO2 emissions by weight of all plastics. The shortened manufacturing process (tube head + body made in one process, can even decorate at the same time) requires less energy and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. And, using PP means you are able to decrease the wall thickness of the tube, overall using less plastic than an extruded PE tube.
All PE #
The tube body is extruded of a single HDPE film. The cap is also HDPE, meaning the tube is fully recyclable. COMPAX hopes to provide this solution to customers in our portfolio by year-end 2022.
MOQs for Monolayer, Co-Ex, Laminate, or Injection Molded Tubes all typically start at 10,000 pieces. Some of the sustainable solutions discussed require dedicated production runs, and may require a larger starting order quantity of 25 or 50,000 pieces.
