At COMPAX, we recognize the significant impact our industry can have on the environment. We are committed to reducing this impact, but we cannot do it alone; we need your help. Our vision of responsible and sustainable business involves not only acknowledging the environmental challenges but also informing you about the available options to reduce your footprint. Together, we can work towards sustainable solutions that make a positive difference. Every step towards a sustainable future is a step in the right direction.
Sustainable Material Choices #
Green PE #
Green PE represents a groundbreaking choice in sustainability. It is polyethylene made from Bagasse, a byproduct of sugarcane production. Green PE shares the same molecular structure as traditional PE and can be used in mono-layer tubes at up to 100% composition. By choosing Green PE, you can make a substantial impact, removing up to 2.15 metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere for each ton produced.
Ocean Plastics #
While incorporating FDA Oceanbound plastic into your tube can be challenging, COMPAX is here to assist if it aligns with your brand’s mission. Oceanbound resin consists of post-consumer plastic at risk of polluting our oceans. The plastic is meticulously collected, cleaned, and reprocessed, following a similar process to PCR (Post-consumer Recycled Material).
PCR (Post-consumer Recycled Material) #
Post-consumer recycled material (PCR) is a pivotal choice for reducing your carbon footprint and closing the plastics loop. While PCR may have slightly less polymer strength than virgin material, there are recommended percentages for PCR depending on the diameter of your tube. PCR can be used in a single-layer tube or as one layer in a multi-layer tube. Placing PCR on the outer layer of your tube allows you to retain virgin material closer to your sensitive formula while still making a substantial impact on your carbon footprint.
True Mono-material (All PP) #
Opting for injection molded tubes made from a single material—polypropylene (PP)—is a remarkable choice for drastically reducing your brand’s carbon footprint. PP offers increased barrier properties and reduces the sampling footprint for compatibility testing. The entire tube is Code 5 recyclable, and polypropylene boasts the lowest CO2 emissions by weight of all plastics. The streamlined manufacturing process, where the tube head and body are made in a single process and can even be decorated simultaneously, requires less energy and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, using PP allows you to decrease the wall thickness of the tube, using less plastic overall compared to an extruded PE tube.
All PE #
In the pursuit of sustainability, COMPAX aims to provide a solution for customers in our portfolio by year-end 2022. This solution involves using a single HDPE film for the tube body and a matching HDPE cap. This choice ensures that the entire tube is fully recyclable, aligning with our commitment to sustainability.
Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) #
We understand that adopting sustainable solutions is essential, and therefore, MOQs for various tube types, including Monolayer, Co-Ex, Laminate, or Injection Molded Tubes, typically begin at 10,000 pieces. However, some of the sustainable options discussed may require dedicated production runs and may have larger starting order quantities of 25,000 or 50,000 pieces. We are dedicated to working closely with you to find the most suitable solution that aligns with your sustainability goals and production needs.
Together, we can make a positive impact on the environment and contribute to a more sustainable future.
